Shorthair Cat Breeds

Living with cats and dogs is a great opportunity that not everybody gets to enjoy. Vacuuming pet hair up from on top of the couch, under neath the sofa and every nook and cranny around the home gets to be a pain in back after a while. This is why many people seek after short haired cat breeds that don't shed as much hair as longer and arguably more beautiful cat breeds.

Not as mangy but just as fun to play with these short haired cats are great to have around the house with almost any family.

American Shorthair Cats

History

This striking cat is in the top ten most favorite breed of cats according to the Cat Fanciers Association. It is widely believed that the American Shorthair is descendant of British cats that came to North America on board ships who's job it was while on board was to keep down the rodent population...When they made it to America they sort of jumped ship. Through careful breeding, to develop certain traits, in this century we have created the American Shorthair of today.

Description

He is a well proportioned cat...solid and muscular with a tail that suits his body in girth and length. He has a broad chest and nicely rounded feet. With a handsome coat that is short, and stupendously soft. The coat itself comes in a wide array of colors, color combination and colors that pair with only certain color of eyes...for example blue eyed white, odd eyed white, or gold eyed white...not to mention all assorted tabbies including mackerel tabby pattern, bi colors, parti colors and shaded...you have them all.
